Measurments For Exprsso

South Africa - The country ...

It is done: The Adventure "cathedral choir in South Africa" was a timely return of the second group last night to end. Exhausted, tired and with many memories in our luggage, we arrived just 23 clock, the "dump", where many parents are already expected. Behind us was a 19-hour journey without incident and delays, even - was extremely quiet - for Domspatzen ratios. The sleep deficit for many but then simply too big and maybe (or sure): There is much to process. The impressions of the past 15 days are so varied and so intense that you look at some of the details certainly do not remember. Good thing It is this blog for future reference and to look up. Speaking of a lookup: a (yet to be organizing) in the evening coffee with lots of pictures there will be for you and to refresh the "African fever" for the cathedral choir.
Perhaps you remember, my parents and loved ones at home, now the impact of the African fever. Again and again I heard at least yesterday and in recent days, "I definitely still moving towards it!" Africa captures and makes it a no go - despite the fact that we have seen over the last 15 days, only a fraction of Africa. You, the readers of our blog, could all that we experienced "live" follow, unfortunately only on the screen, but we have always had the impression that you were full of it: We, too, was kept waiting when the first comment was written. Therefore, a thank you goes out to you that you accompany us with your thoughts!
My thanks today - on day 1 after "South Africa '08" - to ALL who made this journey to financial, organizational and substantive in nature. I would also like to thank the missionaries and missionaries in South Africa, whose lives and whose conventions we swirled with our trip and stay confused. I also want to thank everyone who helped us in our journey in words and pictures so well and making sure that the blog every day (in the Night) with the latest impressions and the press was filled with information. My special thanks go to Chris Hart for your cool head, the daily ration of chocolate and so much more that you have worked in the background.
And my thanks go to you, the cathedral choir, together with all who are responsible for you: You have the hearts of the people of South Africa is moving!

The past few days on the blog were always placed under a theme. Today, however, is difficult for me, for what is South Africa? We have seen so many facets and experiences that one really must stay away for the language. "That's Africa "- we have always said if something is not as smooth or otherwise expired as we are used to at home, however, South Africa, the African continent is much more with our language, we can describe the experience all right, but we will.. so never the real thing, can take one's own country, cultures, people words, because "the essential is invisible to the eye." South Africa - The country that does not let go

The last day of the remaining 45 members of our tour group is breaking. At 9:00 we went to the clock SAB Brewery (South African Breweries) in Newlands, where we under the mediation of Neutraublinger world Krones get a free tour of the grounds of the world's second largest brewery. Here, however, is not brewed to the Bavarian purity law, for there is in addition to hops, malt and water, yet corn as an ingredient in the manufacturing process. During the tour we could always discover the crown logo and it felt a bit home. After a tasting of various beers, from "Black Label" to the beer-mixed drinks, it went away in 45 minutes to the location of Stellenbosch, the most famous wine growing region of South Africa, but which also houses a major university. A short stroll through the historic Streets was possible and then we turned up again "pure African World" in a. On the territory of a large estate there are at Spier Wine Estate to theme park with different facets, including the food in cozy terraces in a tree house with a variety of delicious appetizers, various main courses from the stork on lamb and chicken, up to a beautiful O bs t and tempting desserts. Thus fortified, some were brave enough to slow stroking then dozing cheetahs to buy the last souvenirs or to taste the excellent wines. At 15:30 clock we went back in the city to the waterfront, great shopping at the port, with countless shops and shops and great views of the sea. After a brief tour of our Guide Andrew Poole, we had two hours to the area on your own to explore , with the jerseys of the South African national team were the most requested. Some use the time to go with a helicopter in the skies over Cape Town. By 19 clock there was dinner with appetizer and salad in huge Pizzasin Primi Platti overlooking the sea. There, we heard the call that the first group was flown only 45 minutes late in Cape Town and therefore missed the connecting flight to Munich. Scheduled arrival in Regensburg so only at 1.00Uhr. Then the whole team is 21 ½ hours on the legs. We met in Cape Town is a then cheerfully by 22 clock in the hotel, where Domkapellmeister Roland Büchner again very warmly Provost Dr. Wilhelm Gegenfurtner thanked on behalf of the cathedral of Regensburg for facilitating the trip. At the same time he also thanked the two guides Hagen Horoba and Christof Hartmann for their use in advance of the trip and during your entire stay in South Africa. "O thou quiet time" by Franz Biebl cause bs the Domspatzen chiedeten grateful to the last and most probably the shortest Night in South Africa.

South Africa - The country of the first farewell

There was a brief farewell: Just in time clock at 4:30 today, the first group of the cathedral choir left the hotel in Cape Town. were Domkapellmeister Roland Büchner, Provost Dr. Gegenfurtner and guide it do not take to adopt the first 28 participants of the trip and give them a good to do above all safe return.

South Africa - the land of religious joy

The contrast could not be sharper. The Catholic parish of St. Timothy, where we were last night visited is located in one of the many townships outside Cape Town. The Nazareth municipality, in the morning together the Sunday service was held, is one of the attractive district Vredehoek, only about ten minutes drive from Cape Town Center. St. Timothy serves about 3,000 predominantly black congregation, the Church of Nazareth is the center for about 1,000 German-speaking Catholics who live in the Cape region and work. The two parishes also have something in common: their faith and the world famous Table Mountain. Vredehoek is located at the foot of this vast sandstone massif, St. Timothy's Township granted, at least the distant view of the landmark of the city. "Tafelsig" the ghetto living is logical - the German "table view".

This is the German-speaking community Nazareth certainly no bastion of the rich and super rich. "From the doctors to have tile in all sorts of professions are represented," says Deacon Martin Reuter, who was from the diocese of Muenster for six months "on loan" as Pastoralreferent the Cape of Good Hope. Reuter also wanted to Cape Town, therefore, because the German parish priest Stefan Hippler with his AIDS-relief project HOPE has exercised a strong attraction to him. Hippler, who comes from the diocese of Trier, provides a year ago, the headlines when he and the journalist Bartholomew Grill the book "God, AIDS, Africa," published - a pamphlet which has been hotly debated because of their criticism of the church condom ban.

The service on Sunday morning was Stefan Hippler present - the pastor has just several weeks of leave. So it was in deacon Reuter, to thank for the cathedral choir for their "wonderful song": "I have seen bright eyes and mouths, who sang" And then ventilated the Pastoralreferent still a mystery: the faithful, whose northern Germany and Württemberg and Bavarian dialect betrayed their origin was located, Manfred Vorderwülbecke, long-time prominent sports journalist of the Bavarian television. Since his retirement, he spent five months in Cape Town every year, because his daughter lives. What no one knew that the now 68-year-old was from 1950 to 1954 a member of the Regensburg Cathedral Choir.

the service in the Nazareth Church celebrated Provost Dr. Wilhelm Gegenfurtner canon and Peter Hubbard. Wilhelm Gegenfurtner said in his homily once again the main motive of the South Africa trip: n the Regensburg missionaries Inne - to thank for their efforts - especially operating here Mallersdorf sisters. The encounters with the religious and priests have shown that "man is also not complete in ? His element when he loves it when he looks at others and asks is: How can I help "Such acts of charity in mind, would offer the opportunity to" rethink their lives and perhaps realign. World Church Officer Peter Hubbard ended the work of the German community in Cape Town's balance sheet with a "Here we have seen that one can experience as a German-speaking Catholic abroad pastoral care and religious security in the usual church structures. We at home can learn from these communities that connects faith and unites the people. "

How much faith lived all strangeness can forget We enjoyed the evening. At the service at St. Mary's Cathedral was followed by a concert that offered not only this time the cathedral choir. With it was the Simon Estes School Choir. Members come from the townships. You want to make a CD recording, but for no money. Thus, the visitors were invited to a benefit concert. During the official part, changed the songs from the two choirs. But then there was no stopping. The Simon Estes School Choir presented Assignment for the encores. The church choir was transformed into pure musical joy lived. There was dancing and always sung a new song. The cathedral choir stormed into the choir room lined up, on and were entertained by the rhythm of local young people enthusiastic. The spirit of encounter, this South Africa trip gave meaning and purpose, was just music. And after the cathedral choir, the all-connecting South Africa have so perfect song on it, it was smashed at the end so loud that it echoed from beyond the church walls to the streets of Cape Town.

went from the church's in the Paulaner Brauhaus. Here, in fact, the original beer is brewed in Munich. (Quote Vorderwülbecke: "We come twice in the five months ago here, it helps the mirage from draft wheat beer to market..") On the benches moved Bavarian beer and South African love of life closely together meat loaf and potato salad. The young people got along immediately - a toast to South Africa!

PS: In four hours we raised. The first group takes off on the land that gave us in the past two weeks, so many impressions, which has given us insights into the previously unimaginable poverty of many people and has views of magnificent landscapes. I thank you for accompanying us on this journey through the plains of South Africa and I am glad that you liked my lyrics - even if just before midnight after a full day the formulation was sometimes not as smooth. A huge thanks Mivo (Michael Vogl), who has chosen with an angel's patience with me in so many hours of the night and uploaded pictures. And of course the guide, the ever saw in search of Funksigalen with Wlan and vouchers are for the technically correct name. Also thank my colleagues Thomas Berg, who has now delivered the first part of the blog and I will therefore allow an extra hour's sleep. I look forward to seeing in Regensburg. Your Maria Baumann

Welcome Bag Verbiage For Wedding Guests

South Africa - the land of hope

fascinating, inspiring, magnificent, touching: all superlatives are already in this blog. That is why we say today, even though everything is aptly simple ch: It was a good and simply beautiful day. How should a day also be different, we were allowed to stay at the Cape of Good Hope. On a coastal road, the trip went on the peninsula along bizarre cliffs, where the surging waves of the Atlantic. On the rocks break the meter-high waves, the spray sparkling in the sunshine. Beside us lies the smallest and richest plant kingdom in the world. Although it represents only 0.4 percent of the earth's surface, can be found, it has 8000 plant species. 2000 of them are actually only in the Cape, of course. Most belong to the fine brush. The largest proportion constitutes the Protheagruppe. The Prothea is the national flower of South Africa, named after the Greek god Proteus, the shape of his could change. Just as varied this plant blooming along the trail. Alone, 650 different varieties of heather growing on the rock. Regular fires of flora are even desired, because the seed capsules of the fine bushes are so hard that they can just pop in the fire. The brother of fire from the Franciscan Canticle of the Sun may affect its fertilizing power here. The traces of the recent fire, which will first be concerned that traces back to life. The idea of impermanence, of destruction and creation, here is within reach in the plants, in ebb and flow, has been in ever new forms of the mighty rock that flattened the sea.

At Cape Point, the cathedral choir have a large audience quickly, as they sing in such a famous landmark in their song. Some German tourists sing surprised and happy. Over lunch at Cape Point opens up again the wide view of the ocean. Black and white ostrich and gray females strutting through the grass. Birds with iridescent plumage pecking slyly after the snack score. Little mouse to collect the the crooked parking. Energetic show the baboons. They steal all the bags ever, in order to share the food supply of the travelers. Satisfied sits a baboon with a snatched Sandwich on the roof of a parked car. Zebras graze on the slopes, as we return to the other side of the peninsula through the park.

It remains only for a short time to change before we start again. Through the city with its magnificent buildings, but also monstrous high-rises, it goes over the highway in a town-ship. Km long line up the corrugated iron huts. In the largest township outside Cape Town live 800 000 to one million people. We are heading to a slightly smaller, even more distant from the center of Township. At St. Timothy parish in Tafelsig we celebrate together today worship. The melodies of the hymns Download now a sing-along. Father Emanuel Siljeur celebrated with Father William (Provost Dr. Wilhelm Gegenfurtner) and Father Peter (Peter Hubbard canon). With charisma and enthusiasm, he makes the meaning of the paschal mystery once again be present. He speaks of communion in faith, calls for a standing together. "God works through everyday experiences. Let us open our eyes, we see something new, God is clearly in everyone, God does not leave God is with us, God has suffered and risen! "In vigorous, enthusiastic words he gives about 60 believers from the settlement, the come, are hope. More is not afraid to worship the day before, says he us after the show. You have afraid in the dark when they again have to go home. It is this contrast that is also found here. The living conditions are hostile, poverty is far too narrow limits. But people who live in this poverty meet us with joy and open affection. Hot swap them with us the greeting of peace, we take on the hands and pray together for everything that comes in the intercessions expressed: the desire for peace, tolerance and the gifts of reasonable confidence. With applause to thank the congregation of the cathedral choir, the choir from the home of the Pope, as he presented Father Emmanuel, followed by the concert. Return we gifted back from the township, where hope is by faith in shanties at home.

South Africa - The Land of the Two Oceans

rewarded on a clear sky we a p more costly sunrise over Mariann Hill for the early wake-up call at 5 clock. At 8:55 we picked clock from Durban and the flew towards the last destination of our trip: Cape Town, the Mother City in South Africa. Despite sunshine, the Table Mountain wrapped in our arrival in clouds. But as we are of the perfect travel management and is now used by are spoiled him, was the trip to the landmark success. Just in time for r departure from the hotel nd weighed close to the peak billowing clouds u the imposing Table Mountain was in his whole majestic beauty. Was the view from the station already a pleasure, ext cured us to ride on the gondola fascinating outlook. The 34 boys and 20 young men stood inm itten landscape of craggy rock and looked down at the Cape of Good Hope, on the historic island "Robbe n Iceland" and at the construction site for the football stadium for the World Cup 2010. "We are at Table Mountain!" Time and again rang d Yaser reputation, almost as if they are mutually assured of this unique experience. Place in the concert hall the cathedral choir sang in the 1086 m high altitude plateau overlooking the South African metropolis. Again, the clouds moved over the mountain he discontinuance z . All the more was Mendelssohn's "Lift up your eyes unto the hills from the Elias such a unmi ttelbare importance. The late-romantic, powerful, "Bonum est confiteri" touched in this environment not only the companion deeply in the cathedral choir. Passers-by stopped to hikers taken. It was just the perfect moment in an incredibly dense atmosphere. The clouds thinned and opened again at the departure has sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean.

For dinner we dined exquisitely prepared seafood. And the operation remained listening attentively as the cathedral choir sang their songs in the club. The boss ran out of our kitchen, in the doorway and furtively wiped tears from her cheek. "You are beautiful," was her thanks to the guests. But the song was a thank you to the choir, Provost Dr. Wilhelm Gegenfurtner and Peter Hubbard canon as representative of the chapter, which has made for the cathedral choir that day. The cathedral choir underlined the words of gratitude from Domkapellmeister Roland Büchner with great applause.

A day is out, the intensely proved the uniqueness of this journey: that we know at the moment of every impression that you will never forget him.

South Africa - The Land of singing together

Tomorrow morning we leave Kwazulu Natal. In an evening service and the subsequent Concert we attended this evening farewell. The reading from Acts 1:8 led again to the source of the motto of "Tour of Thanksgiving": "Sent to the ends of the earth". Canon Peter Hubbard, Speaker for the World Church of the diocese of Regensburg, spoke of all the priests and religious of his gratitude for their work of charity for the poor and needy in South Africa. A special "May God reward you," he offered for supporting this work on Cardinal Wilfred Napier, Archbishop of Durban, who celebrate with the evening service in the packed church, a 19th century monastery of Mariannhill. The Franciscan Cardinal Napier devoted the Cathedral Choir under the direction of Director of Music Roland Büchner then especially the presentation of the Franciscan Canticle of Enjott Schneider. Also present was the "Mariann Hill Cathedral Choir in concert and prayer. As an encore, he sang with the cathedral choir Beethoven's "triumph in the sky". The approximately 250 guests applauded enthusiastically.

for the cathedral choir, it was a successful completion of the journey through Zululand, but also a beautiful day. Den she had spent in Durban, one of the most important cities on the coast of South Africa. In the uShaka Marine World, one of the largest aquariums, they experienced in an imaginatively designed in a shipwreck underwater world, the fascinating marine biodiversity. A dolphin and seal show, a lunch on the Indian Ocean, swimming and romping in the huge bath complex - the men and boys were really good. And some, finally lifted off yet - by helicopter to a flight over the 2 million inhabitants.

Superior Dr. Wilhelm Gegenfurtner visited this morning the Mallersdorf sisters who are studying in Mariannhill their nursing education. Father Georg Lautenschlager led the group of those left behind by the impressive monastery. The church is adjoined by a large cloister with garden, which takes its simple beauty caught. Father George told the story of the Mariannhill missionaries who are also like all the orders that we have learned about so far here in a time of upheaval. Only five European missionaries living in the monastery. However, 40 indigenous brothers are currently in training. An era in South Africa is slowly coming to an end, but a new beginning: the time of African religious sisters and brothers. The Common, which was established here, we were able to experience KwaZulu Natal: the common joy of the faith, the great commitment to the charity, but also the enthusiasm with which both the locals and is sung - lived.

How To On Front Camera In E71

South Africa - The Land of the Little Ten

Today we could all see the sunrise. At 6 clock we met at the lodge to a small terrace for strengthening the game drive in the Hluhluwe Umfolozi National Park. On nine jeeps, we started a fast way to the forest of the reserve. The still cold wind woke us up on final, so we were excited that our eyes wander over the dense green. The Big Five but took advantage of the impenetrable wilderness to hide. A first successful step in our game was waiting at the first water station: Five hippos could be crowded around in the pool. An injured hippo bull, the last had lost the struggle for the females, standing alone on the shore. Depending on the route we were able to spot different animals. It was not the big ones that came near us, but it was impressive to take the animals in their natural environment true. At least from the distance we discovered on the hill and buffalo grazing in a valley two elephants. But the zebras crossed our path in small flocks on the adventurous trails. The monkeys in the tree gave the visitors in their strange metal box cages little attention. They looked so excited in a direction that the driver in the bushes suspected a lurking leopard. Since this is God but Thanks to the Monkies in sight, had he remained invisible to us. Again and again emerged from the undergrowth Impalas, who gave us short of their interest and then gracefully turned away. Birds in magnificent plumage fluttered on. Particularly inspired us but the giraffes were galloping in their proud size of the steppe and down in a small group for our photo safari in majestic pose. The Big Five were not, but a wealth of impressions in a magnificent environment. And on the way back we accompanied a group of warthogs. The two wild boar gave a farewell a martial idea before the big game arena happy again left.
The hungry hunter refreshed themselves at breakfast in the lodge, visited once more the crocodiles and voted for the head of the plant to a serenade. 250 km were now before us, across Zulu Natal, which again showed the diversity of its landscapes. We left the kraal behind us and the closer we came to the sea, the clearer it was that South Africa has been settled by the coast. The European influences have left their mark in terms of architecture. The most luxurious architectural variations are expected eventually in Ballito Beach, a seaside resort on the Indian Ocean. Bouganvilleabüsche with thousands of pink, white and orange flowers, enormous Oleander: amidst rich Flora opens up stunning views of the wild raging sea.
The Domspatzen rushed bravely fought in the high waves, strong and persevering with the towering waves. Exhausted, they could still treat yourself a break at the beach before we drove off today's destination: the Mariannhill Monastery near Durban. The Trappist Franz Pfanner has it and it was founded in 1882 with 67 priests and brothers and 199 Chorreligiosen soon the largest Trappist monastery in the world, which he headed until 1894. The successful mission work Mariann Hills could not be reconciled to life with the quiet and withdrawn ideal of the Trappists. Pope Pius X. separated so the monastery Mariann Hill from the Association of the Order of Trappists, and gave the way for the founding of the Congregation of the Missionaries of Mariannhill. Mariann Hill formerly belonged to the mission Ratschitz Maria, which is now run as the convent of the Sisters Mallersdorf. The connections to the diocese of Regensburg range even further. This is where the two bishops emeritus Dr. Friedrich Lobinger, who formerly headed the Diözse Aliwal North, and Dr. Oswald Hirmer (Umtata) are at home. From Burglengenfeld Father is Dr. George Lautenschlager. The 78-year-old priest is a missionary and Mariannhill postulator for the beatification process by Abbot Pfanner. In the huge monastery we had our room - with a view on the night lit Durban.

South Africa - The country of great natural

After yesterday we ashamed of the poverty of the people were facing, waiting for us today, the abundance of nature. South Africa is a land of contrasts - and the contradictory feelings. Today we were allowed to enjoy and have it be done to breathe after the deep and lasting impressions of the first week.

the morning we took leave of the monks of the abbey, which we had with Benedictine received hospitality. Likewise, but also by Bishop Gerhard Ludwig Mueller, Michael Kaplan and Sister M. Dressel Godehard that returns at noon in Johannesburg flew to Germany. The Bishop gave us the blessing for our trip another tour before we left Inkamana after five eventful days. Approximately three and a half hours were driving towards the coast in front of us. The sun was still a bit hotter. Unfortunately, the bus was also the boys halfway hot. The boys were allowed to change. For them, it went straight on to the Hluhluwe Umfolozi National Park. For the male voices a forced break was announced. They made the best of it - that's Africa. They dived into the colorful life of an African fruit and vegetable market, ate at Wempy at the gas station in the middle of the bustling business and bustle of the locals. When the men shortly after 17 Clock in the National Park arrived, it was the individual arrival of the Cathedral Choir: They got off the bus and smashed a simplified "Hallelujah".

Hluhluwe - that's pure peace: as far as the eye can see great outdoors. In 1897 were about 250 kilometers north of Durban, which was founded two game reserves Hluhluwe and Umfolozi to protect the last rhinos. They were the first animal protection areas in southern Africa. In 1998 the two parks and the intervening corridor were combined to Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park. He has a size of over 96 000 hectares, making it the fourth largest park in the country. In addition to 1250 foot-wide and 300 black rhino live in the reserve, lion, cheetah, leopard, giraffe, elephant s, buffalo, crocodiles, wildebeest, impala, zebra, antelope and hyena. We are still in Zululand, today landscapes of bizarre rock formations passed through, were on the move by rich flowering tree-lined streets. Before us stretched wide open plains with savannah grass and the spreading canopy of acacia trees. This is all Kwazulu-Natal. The cathedral choir sing their songs in the size of the Creator, where we experience the beauty of his creation. In the middle of this area

lush greens our neighborhood, the Zulu Nyala H eritage Safari Lodge. With us at the lodge live the way zebra graze peacefully among the tables, and several crocodiles. To reassure the parents: The Cathedral Choir is still complete. And they sang after dinner at the lodge terrace with Zulutänzern the South African national anthem.
